Magnesium drips, explained.

Magnesium is a mineral your body needs. Here is how it is given in a drip, which of our drips include it, and what you might feel while it goes in.

What is magnesium?

Magnesium is a mineral. Your body uses it in many everyday processes, including muscle and nerve function and making protein, bone and DNA.

Many foods have it, including leafy greens, nuts, seeds, beans, whole grains and milk.

How a magnesium drip works

In a drip, magnesium is mixed into a bag of saline and runs through an IV into a vein in your arm or hand, so it does not go through your stomach.

At DrpIV+, magnesium is in the Myers Plus, Mega Myers, COVID & Flu Recovery, Migraine and Hangover drips. It is also a $25 add-in you can put in any drip.

What to expect

A nurse or paramedic comes to your home, office or hotel and checks your vitals first. A visit takes about 45 to 60 minutes. After the needle stick, the needle comes out and only a tiny flexible tube stays in your vein.

Before the visit you fill out a short medical form. Wear short sleeves, or a top with sleeves that roll up easily.

The FDA label for IV magnesium lists a warm, flushed feeling and sweating, and at larger doses, lower blood pressure.

To book, call or text (385) 301-6279. We are available every day from 9 AM to 8 PM.

Does a magnesium drip burn?

Tell your nurse right away if you feel burning, stinging or pain where the IV is. The same goes for itching, hives, swelling or dizziness.

Trouble breathing or swelling in your throat is an emergency. Call 911.

Check with your doctor first if

  • You have kidney disease. Your kidneys are how your body clears magnesium.
  • You are pregnant
  • You have had a reaction to an IV before, or you have allergies
  • You take other medicines or supplements
